MBL Network
To be successful, bio startups need outstanding business ideas (business seeds) and also need well-thought-out business plans (including business models, financing plans, and capital policy) and the manpower to promote such plans.
The MBL Network currently consists of 18 companies (15 Japanese companies, two US companies, and one Chinese company; the number of member companies is subject to change). The fields of activities of the member companies can be roughly categorized into four: (1) development of research tools such as "genes, mRNA, protein, sugar chain, etc." ; (2) research and development of pharmaceuticals for "diagnosis and medical treatment"; (3) the whole process "from development to production and sale ; and (4) "investment and consultation."
By providing support for incorporation, financing, human resource development, and business management as well as promoting joint research and joint business development projects between the member companies, the MBL Network functions as a comprehensive mechanism to develop individual company's strength.
