Instructions for usepdf

SMITEST HBV-YMDD Mutation Detection Kit can detect as many as 100 copies/test of both wild and two mutants of HBV-DNA gene, and the two mutants can be distinguished clearly.

Background:

Recently, Lamivudine has been administered to patients chronically infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and shown to inhibit viral DNA synthesis. A long term dosage, however, induces the appearance of resistant HBV viruses. Various mutations have been mostly found in the active site of reverse transcriptase region of HBV polymerase (HBV pol). The active site was named the YMDD motif because of the amino acid sequence of tyrosine (Y) , methionine (M), aspartic acid (D), and aspartic acid (D) from N-terminus in order.
Two groups of the mutations have been identified in the YMDD motif. One is the transition from methionine (M) to valine (V), and the other to isolucine (I). The clinical differences between two mutants have been studied, but no consensus exists yet.
SMITEST HBV-YMDD Mutation Detection Kit is designed to fast and easily detect the presence of HBV mutants in YMDD region by means of PCR-ELMA (Polymerase Chain Reaction Enzyme Linked Mini-sequence Assay).

Size: 32 tests

Method: Mini-sequence
